BURN OUT: There is something about the power of fire that really draws me in. It’s something about the danger and spontaneity of the element that makes it magnetizing; whatever context it is used in. Tonight I went to the theatre and the work I saw featured regular segments with fire. Your eyes flutter, your heart jumps and your senses become reawakened. In this image, the fire represents a proclamation of power; it seems that someone used this to prove their worth and might in the most extreme manner possible. That is why the slightly pixilated feel of the fire doesn’t bother me, the backstory is strong enough to prop up the weaker qualities of this photo.
