A collection of inspirations called to mind

SUN SHINE: I suppose that this is a rather obvious painting to post but I had it saved on my computer and had used it as inspiration for my Aunt’s birthday card (LOL). It’s a painting that is so renowned that anyone who sees it can identify it, even if they can’t quite pin down the name or even artist right away. The truth is that even I can’t quite pin down the exact version that this one is because Van Gogh made a series of the still-life works simply referred to as ‘Sunflowers’. This image has been cropped and is more close-up than the original, which allows the viewer to take in the slightly off-kilter, abstract outline of the sunflower petals and the interesting mix of brown, black and yellow inside the flower themselves. I believe that this is simply referred to as ‘Still Life: Vase With Twelve Sunflowers’ from 1889 according to the original source. Thanks to Van Gogh gallery for offering a more up-close version of one of the Dutch post-impressionist artist’s many interpretations of the flower.
